Rains to continue for next 24 hrs

Heavy rainfall across the State, which has been induced by a well-marked low pressure over the Bay of Bengal, is likely to continue for the next 24 hours.

The Regional office of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) here on Thursday issued different categories of rain warnings for different districts.

IMD Regional Director HR Biswas said rains are likely to continue at least for another 24 hours.

‘Red’ warning was issued for Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Cuttack, Khordha and Puri. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to pound these districts, he added.

The weather office issued ‘Orange’ warning for Mayurbhanj, Baleswar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Deogarh and Angul districts while Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Boudh, Kandhamal and Gajapati were issued ‘Yellow’ warning.

While incessant rains have been affecting normal life across the State for the last 48 hours, the IMD said the weather condition is likely to change from Saturday.
