Rain to lash Odisha in 24 hours: IMD

Published on:

Several parts of the State, especially north and interior parts, will experience moderate-to-heavy rain under the influence of a low pressure formed over the west-central Bay of Bengal from Friday till June 11, said the IMD Regional Office here on Friday.

The IMD also forecasted that rains or thundershowers would occur at many places over coastal Odisha during the next 24 hours.

Heavy rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Puri, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput, Khorda, Kandhamal and Nayagarh during next 24 hours, IMD predicted.

The weather office further stated heavy rainfall induced by the low pressure was reported in Ganjam, Gajapati, Koraput and Rayagada districts on the day.

Meanwhile, arrival of the monsoon in the State is likely to be delayed for two-three days due to current low rainfall in north-eastern parts of the country, the IMD said.

Meanwhile, rains in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack on Friday brought the temperatures down and provided respite from the torrid heat.
