The Mancheswar Carriage Repair Workshop (CRW) of the East Coast Railway (ECoR) has added one more feather to its cap by achieving the highest-ever productivity in a row for the first seven months of the current financial year despite the devastating cyclone Phailin and incessant rains.
During the month of October 2013, a total of 116 coaches including two newly-converted Accident Relief Train (ART) coaches were repaired by the CRW in comparison to 85 coaches repaired in October 2012. Similarly, the CRW repaired 902 coaches during the first seven months of the current financial year from April to October compared to 696 during the corresponding period of the last fiscal.
Despite of the cyclone and floods thereafter, the CRW workforce rose to the occasion and took the challenge not only to meet the target but also to beat the target. Interestingly, the workshop is due to celebrate 30 years of its working in December this year. A large number of activities are planned as part of the celebration.
