Rail roko at Bhadrak; toilets in train demanded

Published on:

Congress workers on Monday resorted to a rail roko at the Bhadrak station demanding toilet facility at the Bhadrak-Brahmapur diesel multiple unit (DMU) train. Passengers had a tough time for several hours as activists sat on the tracks.

The Congress alleged that despite repeated requests, the railway authorities continue to turn a blind eye to the legitimate demands of passengers.

“Elderly people and women are the worst sufferer due to absence of toilets in the DMU. We have been requesting the concerned authorities for installation of toilets since a long but nothing tangible has happened as yet,” said a protestor. On the other hand, passengers raised concern over the undeclared rail roko leading to their inconvenience.

However, the strike was withdrawn after senior railway officials provided the facility in the first three bogies and assured to provide toilets in other compartments by the end of April.
