The Freethought Party of India (FPI) has demanded that intelligence agencies, particularly the ED and the Income Tax Department, carry out stock verification of the gold ornaments and gold bars etc in the jewellery shops across the country.
Those who are having huge amounts of black money are very clandestinely visiting jewellery shops and purchasing gold ornaments or gold bars to avoid being caught for possession of black money. Such transactions are very much likely to take place in the well protected residences of the corrupt officers, industrialists, lawyers, judges and contractors and people running mega hospitals and educational institutions, said a party release.
Raids carried on the houses of those who are having such shady deals can restrain them to a great extent and make the demonetization drive a success, the FPI said. “The houses of the rich, particularly of the super rich and their lockers in banks where they have kept their gold ornaments in secure environment should be raided and such people should be thoroughly exposed in the eyes of the public,” demanded FPI general secretary B Ramchandra CST Voltaire.
