Covid-19 turned out to be the cruelest for the family of eminent sculptor and Rajya Sabha member Padma Vibhushan Raghunath Mohapatra as the virus has claimed his life and the lives of his two sons in just 12 days.
While Raghunath and his son Prashant, a former cricketer, died on May 9 and May 19, respectively, his eldest son Jashobant succumbed to the virus at around 1 pm on Thursday. He was 52. On Wednesday night, Jashobant’s condition had worsened and he was shifted from the AIIMS to the SUM Covid Hospital here. “Jashobant passed away today in spite of all efforts of the medical team,” said hospital sources. Raghunath and his two sons had been admitted to the AIIMS for Covid-19 treatment on April 22.
