With ruling BJD Chief Whip in the Assembly Pravat Tripathy's Tuesday statement that former Minister Raghunath Mohanty should surrender before the police in connection with alleged dowry torture case against him, the latter's hope to gain Government protection, as assumed earlier, seems to have been severely hit.
"For the sake of the party, Raghunath Mohanty should surrender before the police," Tripathy told reporters here.
"We have no information whether Mohanty has got bail or not. He must be trying for some legal help, but in my view he should either surrender or get bail from court," added Tripathy. Mohanty has remained incommunicado since he tendered resignation as Minister on March 15 after his daughter-in-law Barsa Swony Choudhury lodged a dowry harassment case at the Baleswar Town police against him and four of his family members.
