A day after stepping down as the Chairman of Odisha Lift Irrigation Corporation, senior BJD leader Raghunath Mohanty resigned from the party on Sunday.
He tendered his resignation to party supremo Naveen Patnaik citing “personal reason”.
“I am tendering my resignation from primary membership as well as vice-president post of Biju Janata Dal for personal reason,” Mohanty mentioned it in his resignation letter.
Mohanty, who was elected to the Assembly five times from the Basta constituency in Baleswsar district, said he would decide on his next political move (including possibility of contesting elections) in a few days.
It was apparent that though the BJD is yet to declare its Basta seat candidate, Mohanty got clear hints of not being nominated and that’s why he resigned from the party. He may join the BJP.
