The Raahgiri Day was celebrated for the second time in the city on Sundaymorning along Janpath.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, Tourism and Culture Minister Ashok Chandra Panda and Bhubaneswar MP Prasanna Patsani also participated in the event.

For the first time, trangenders participated in the celebration which aimed at promoting non-motorised transport (NMT) and performed Bidhei, their traditional dance. Twenty transgenders under the banner of the Third Gender Welfare Trust enthralled the passersby.

From cycle rallies to yoga sessions, street volleyball to skating, there was something in store for everyone. Several activities with people waiting in queues for cycles for free ride on one side while dance and other fitness activities were in full swing on stages on the other.

During the event, the stretch between Ram Mandir Square and Master Canteen Square along Janpath was restricted for motorised transport. Games like football, volleyball and painting exhibitions kept the public engrossed for a good four and a half hours.

The Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) and the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) in support of the Culture and Tourism Department are jointly organising the event every Sunday.
