Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has given thrust to upgrade four railway stations of Odisha to international standard. And, among those is the Rourkela railway station, said Bondamunda ARM Nishant Kumar.He was speaking at Railway Advisory Committee meeting at Rourkela informing that preliminary works have been already initiated.
He said works for platform-6 has been expedited and possible supports are extended by local administration. He further said that the walking over bridge work is in progress and it will be extended till the food plaza centre. Another entry gate will be constructed beside it. Both Rourkela Steel Plant and Rourkela Municipal Corporation have extended their support for beautification of the station, he told.
The hurdles will remain cleared soon for road works to the second entry point, escalator and lift, said Kumar.The beautification work in second entry point is being undertaken by Rotary Club of Rourkela Mid-Town and Railways jointly. For the social and economic development of locality, an important project is planned, added Kumar.
