A pair of lovers got married in a court without the consent of their family members. They even stayed as husband and wife for some period but when the girl returned to her college for writing examination, her family members allegedly had taken her away forcibly from college.
The husband of the girl lodged an FIR about kidnapping of his wife by her family members.
According to sources, the 20- year -old girl of Jagda area at Rourkela had fallen in love with a youth identified as Manoranjan Sahu(30), a native of Gopalpur, Kendrapara and presently residing at Bhubaneswar. The girl studies in a college under Sector-3 police station at Rourkela. When the family members of the youths had come to know about their affair, they had opposed their marriage.
Finally during the month of August, the girl had secretly fled her house and got married with her lover Manoranjan in court in Bhubaneswar
On October 25, the girl alongwith her husband had reached at her college to fill up the form for her second semester exam.
When both of them had come to know from their friends that the father of the girl was keeping a close watch on them, Manoranjan verbally had informed in Sector-3 police station.
However, the family members allegedly forcibly took the girl away in a vehicle.
“Based on the FIR of the youth, we had registered a case of kidnapping against the family members of the girl," said Sector-3 police station IIC Debjani Nayak.
“The girl is major and she told us that she had not been kidnapped by anyone from her parents' side and told that she came of her own to her parent’s house and she now wants to focus on her studies.” Nayak added.
