Odisha’s tableau that participated in the Republic Day parade in New Delhi 26 has been adjudged the best among the tableaus of the States and Union Territories.
This year, the Odisha tableau featured a model of the heritage crafts village of Raghurajpur with messages on women empowerment.
The tableau showcased the craftsmanship and artistry through Raghurajpur pattachitra and handicrafts. Moreover, it highlighted women empowerment in rural areas through cottage industries. The tableau model was prepared under the supervision of Gajendra Sahoo.
Sahoo said, “The Odisha tableau participated in the parade after three years. During model preparation, it appeared that it was different from others. The students, who were performing Sambalpuri dance, worked hard and performed in chilly conditions.”
Every artisan and others, who were part of the tableau, had worked hard in freezing cold conditions in Delhi, he added.
