No eligible candidates are available for 304 wards in Jharsuguda district as they are for reserved category.
During scrutiny, the candidatures in the reserved seat have been rejected for want of proper caste certificates. As such, out of 936 wards, 304 wards will have no Ward Member nominees. These posts can be filled up if a notification is published for filing nominations afresh.
Surprisingly, Gourmal Panchayat of Jharsuguda block in the district will remain without any ward member where out of 12 wards, not a single post could be filled up.
District Panchayat sources said that lakhanpur is the worst hit block where 202 wards do not have any ward member. likewise, in Kolabira block, two wards will be without a ward member. On the other hand, 357 ward members in the district have been elected uncontested, out of which the highest 131 are in lakhanpur block and lowest 46 are in laikera block.
The Samiti members in two panchayats of lakhanpur block and Sarpanch in one panchayat have been elected unopposed.
Two Samiti members have been elected uncontested in Rampela and Kanaktora as they were having no oppositions.
