Complying with the direction of the Union Ministry of Home of Affairs (MHA), the State Government has served “Quit India” notice to eight Chinese nationals working under a Thai company at the Dhamra Port in Bhadrak district, said State Home Department Principal Secretary Asit Tripathy.
“last week, we received a letter from the MHA that 10 Chinese nationals were working under a Thai company for the Dhamra Port. We were advised to instruct them to quit India by adopting appropriate procedures,” said Tripathy.
He said that immediately after getting the report, the Bhadrak SP, who is the Foreigner Registration Office (FRO) in this case, and the Director of Intelligence were intimidated.
“As per the latest information available with me, the Director, Intelligence has already verified it. There are eight Chinese nationals instead of 10 mentioned in the MHA letter. They have been served with ‘Quit India’ notice, and necessary procedures are being adopted as per provisions of the relevant law. Their names have been found out, and whatever action is needed to be taken has been taken,” informed Tripathy.
The MHA has taken the decision as the Chinese nationals working on an expansion project of the Adani Group-managed Dhamra Port Company limited (DPCl) in Bhadrak district is barely 15 km from the missile-launch facility at the APJ Abdul Kalam Island, previously known as Wheeler’s Island, on the ground of security threat.
