The Shree Jagannath Shree Kedarnath Temple Management Committee, Baruan, Dhenkanal has welcomed the queue system for devotees for darshan of Lords in Shreemandir in Puri.
“The number of devotees visiting the Shree Jagannath Temple is rising day by day. With queue system in barricades, devotees can have smooth Darshan of Lords and there would be least chance of stampede,” pointed out committee president Bibhudhendra Pratap Das in a statement.
He lamented saying that as many as five persons have died and 50 injured due to stampedes occurred at different times in the Shreemandir since the year 2005.
The steps taken by the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) as per the direction of the Supreme Court in adopting queue system in four lines for smooth darshan of Lords is commendable, Das said.
He said that some organisations at the behest of sevayats have opposed the system, which is not at all acceptable.
Stating that the Central intelligence has been informing the State Government for many years that the Shreemandir is in the target of terrorists, Das suggested that should be Xerox scan for bag checking system at the Singhadwar soon.
Recently, the Law Minister told the State Assembly that the police higher authorities have been provided funds for installation of Xrox scan machines at four gates of the Shreemandir and such machines have been installed at three of four gates
“It is learnt that the three machines are not working as they are of poor quality. No scan machine has been installed at the Lions Gate. The Government should instal such machines on a priority basis,” demanded Das.
