Question paper leak case: Bail pleas of accused rejected

Published on:

district court here on Thursday refused to grant bail to two Government employees, including a policeman, who have been arrested by the Crime Branch police in connection with the question paper leak incident in the constable recruitment examination-2015.

The Additional District Judge (ADJ) Court turned down the bail application of Satyanarayan Das, a former ASI of Boudh district, and Shankar Sethy, who was working as a steno of State Selection Board (SSB) of Odisha Police.

The bail applications were rejected after the prosecution vehemently opposed them, saying the two are the key accused in the case, and since the investigations in the case are continuing, releasing them on bail at this stage would seriously jeopardise the investigation.

Earlier on April 7, the same court had granted bail to six others arrested in this connection. The written test of the recruitment process was cancelled on March 15 after it was confirmed that the questions were leaked before the test. The rescheduled test was, however, held this month without any hiccups.
