Odisha Jan Morcha (OJM) chief Pyarimohan Mohapatra demanded through a memorandum to the Governor the dismissal of CM Naveen Patnaik for his autocratic way of functioning, inefficiency to maintain law and order in the State and failure to fulfill promises he made during the last poll to the people.
Protesting the arrest of OJM general secretary Jagneswar Babu in a Vigilance case, Mohapatra dubbed it as political vendetta and said the objective is to create fear among the OJM leadership after the successful rallies of the outfit across the State and the latest one in Kandhamal rattled him.
Stating that the gangrapes, rapes, murders, dacoities, kidnapping of children, mafia operations, frauds and other heinous offences in the State are on the rise, the OJM chief held the CM responsible in containing crimes being also in the portfolio of Home Minister due to his inefficiency.
He said the CM suppressed all democratic movements including agitation against Posco by use of force in the most inhuman manner. Mohapatra also lamented the rape of two Dalit girls, Bebina and Sasmita by culprits affiliated to influential party men of Patnaik. “In the last year of his Chief Ministership, Patnaik brought out a Youth Policy and an agricultural policy. The Chief Minister had been in slumber for four long years and woke up in the last year of his tenure only to garner votes of the youth and farmers. Having promised an employment mission with 18 lakh employment in 2004, he turned it into a training mission to train a mere 70,000 people. In the last four years, there has been hardly any employment or self-employment, even though 15 lakh employments had been promised in 2009,” Mohapatra pointed out.
The OJM chief also mentioned the series of scams including Coalgate, and mining and alleged that the Chief Minister is directly involved in all them and hence has been reluctant for a CBI probe.
Making a scathing attack on Patnaik, he said the people are not safe in the State, while black marketers, unscrupulous contractors and Dalals are ruling the roost. The OJM chief also lamented the well-calibrated effort of the Chief Minister to scuttle OJM’s rallies and withholding permission to the rally on May 4.
