Rajya Sabha member Pyarimohan Mohapatra celebrated the International Yoga Day in his adopted village in Dhauli panchayat on the city outskirts. Nearly three hundred people of backward communities along with school students of the panchayat performed yoga in the peaceful surrounding of the Kalinga Ghat in the greenery bank of the river Daya for more than an hour. The yoga was conducted by Mataji Brahmabadini Saraswati, who is recognised as a world-class yoga teacher.

The MP, who himself is an ardent lover and practitioner of yoga since long, said yogic exercises help achieve control over the mind and flexibility of the body. As the village has been adopted by him under SAGY, physical exercise, meditation and yoga need to be taught to the common people for a healthy body and mind. The entire programme was organasied by Dhauli Sarpanch Rabi Maharana, who is also the nominee of the MP for implementation of the Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY). Maharana requested the MP to establish a meditation and yoga centre in the GP.
