The Odisha Jan Morcha (OJM) has welcomed the State Government;s initiative to provide higher education for free to the orphaned children in the State.

OJM president Pyarimohan Mohapatra said the State Government, owing to unabated disruptions of the Assembly proceedings on various grounds, stopped the Budget Session four days ahead of the scheduled time. Consequently, it has drawn flak from all quarters.

However, the special scheme of free higher education it has decided to implement for the hapless orphaned students is commendable, Mohapatra said.

Notably, the special scheme, entitled Green Passage, for free education from Plus II to university level to the orphan students, has recently received the nod of the Chief Minister.

Mohapatra expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister, the Women and Child Development Minister and the Chief Secretary for the move. Mohapatra also urged the State Government to provide reservation for the orphaned students in employment.
