Pyari calls for rejection of BJD candidates

Published on:

Ahead of the urban local body (UlB) polls, accusing the BJD Government of not waking up to its commitments after elections, Odisha Jan Morcha (OJM) chief Pyarimohan Mohapatra on Tuesday urged the voters to reject the BJD candidates and vote for appropriate candidates of other parties instead.

It may be noted that the OJM is not contesting the UlB elections on the ground that the party is yet to be registered by the Election Commission of India.

“The urban people are still deprived of their basic civic amenities. Before the elections, promises were made by the BJD that the issues of the urban areas would be sorted out. But after the elections were over, the ruling party forgot its commitments and treated the people just as a vote-bank to be used and forgotten. Most of the urban areas are still in need of pure drinking water, electricity, good roads and other basic civic amenities. City slum dwellers are yet to get land pattas,” said Mohapatra, adding that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has failed in all fronts.

Hence, under the circumstance, the voters should reject the BJD candidates and facilitate winning of capable candidates of other parties to ensure sustainable development of urban areas, Mohapatra urged.
