The Odisha Suraksha Sena (OSS) on Tuesday termed the Odisha Police Association (OPA) as undemocratic and urged the State Government to put certain restrictions on it.
OSS president Abhisek Joshi alleged that the OPA has been unnecessarily opposing lawful actions against police staff taken by senior officers for dereliction of duty and also staging stirs to protect them.
“The OPA has earlier protested the State Government’s decision in several incidents. Again, it also opposes showcause notices when served on PS-level officers under the Commissionerate Police,” Joshi said, adding, “Such selfish activities by the OPA are against democracy and don’t protect interests of the State and the country. Hence certain restriction should be put on the association.”
