President of Puri Zilla Parishad Debraj Behera (50) died following a cardiac failure on Thursday.
According to sources, Behera, a BJD leader, suffered a massive cardiac arrest early morning and died at his native village under the Pipili Assembly constituency. His followers and family members brought the body to Puri in a procession. The body was placed at the Zilla Parishad office, where many BJD leaders and workers paid their last respects to him. A condolence meeting was also held on the occasion.
later the body was taken to the Swargadwar crematorium for funeral. Behera’s elder son performed the last rites. Minister Maheswar Mohanty, Pipili MlA Pradeep Maharathy and many other BJD leaders paid floral tributes to the departed leader. District Magistrate NK Nayak and officials of Zilla Parishad were present at the funeral.
