'Puri shrine reforms by SC welcome move'

Published on:

Since the order of the Supreme Court on June 8 intending to carry out reforms in the 12th century Jagannath Temple in Puri, the iconic pilgrimage centre and indeed the State of Odisha has been agog with excitement, stated IFS officer Malay Mishra.

Puri is well-known world over for its being one of the four sacred centres, ‘Chaturdham’.

This is the first time, however, that such a sacred and ancient temple has been identified for such a markedly adverse disposition of the highest court of the land, leaving the citizens worried. However, with reforms taking place, this will help manage temple better, he asserted.
