Puri servitors to donate plasmas

In a humanitarian move, 10 servitors of the Jagannath Temple here, who recovered from Covid-19 recently, on Monday set out for Bhubaneswar to donate their plasmas.

Sources said their blood would be tested first at the Capital Hospital to see that they are safe and fit for plasma donation. After they are found fit, they would be called for plasma donation later.

The servitors included two members of Jagannath Temple Managing Committee. “We saw many from our servitor community have recovered from Covid infection through plasma therapy. So, we have decided to donate our plasma to save lives of other Covid patients,” said committee member Madhab Pujapanda.

Notably, about 400 servitors have been infected with the virus and, of them, more than a dozen have succumbed.
