Puri servitors' bail hearing on Aug 10

Published on:

The Puri District Sessions Judge Court on Saturday deferred hearing of the bail applications of 11 Jagannath Temple servitors to August 10 and asked the prosecution to present the CCTV footage of the incident in the court and reserved the order.

Notably, the 11 servitors have been arrested by police in response to complaints of three journalists and sent to judicial custody by the Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM). The scribes had filed complaints that the servitors attacked them while they were covering the Nildri Bije ritual of lord Jagannath.

The servitors also attempted to damage their cameras. They are in jail since then. Their bail applications in the court have been deferred thrice.
