Puri servitor stable in hospital

The condition of Puri servitor Bhramarbar Bhoi, whose left leg was amputated from knee at the Puri hospital on Wednesday evening, is stated to be stable at the SCB Medical College Hospital here on Thursday. Doctors treating him here indicated that the 25-year-old priest undergoing treatment in the orthopaedic ward would be kept under observation for a few days and steps would be taken to fit an artificial leg subsequently.

Bhramarbar suffered the injuries when his leg came under the wheels of Shree Jagannath’s chariot. He was rushed to the Puri District Headquarters Hospital where the doctors were forced to amputate his leg fearing gangrene as the bones were crushed. When his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to the Cuttack hospital late on Wednesday evening.

Meanwhile, the Shree Jagannath temple administration has announced that it would bear the entire cost of treatment of the servitor. CM too announced that all the medical expenses of the servitor would be borne from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
