Puri Gobardhan Peeth Shankaracharya Swami Nischalananda Saraswati, who was on a three-day visit here, addressed a religious convention held at Gand Mark Exotica Apartment near the SUM Hospital on the second day on Sunday.
Over a thousand of common people, saints and followers listened to the Shankaracharya with rapt attention for two hours. Later, they enjoyed a grand feast organised on the occasion.
In the evening, the seer inaugurated the foundation day ceremony of the Adyanta Plus Two Science College. College founder Dr Ajay Bahadur Singh, Lecturers and students took blessings of the Shankaracharya.
The seer stayed in his follower Subhendu Das’ house. The Commissionerate police had put up adequate security measures for his security.
His national relations secretary Pandit Matrupasad Mishra, Adityabahini, Bhubaneswar secretary Shubendu Das and followers Ajay Kumar Nayak and Soumyaranjan Panda coordinated his programme.
On Monday, he attended a book release ceremony and then left for Puri.
