Puri Govardhanpeeth Shankaracharya Swami Nischalananda Saraswati on Monday slammed the State Government for not protecting cattle resulting in massive cow slaughter.
The Shankaracharya after performing the Maha Arati of the sea on the beach near the Swargadwar also highlighted the importance of sea worship and urged the State Government to ensure cow protection.Puri Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingh Deb, other eminent personalities, heads of mutts and saints from across the country also attended the event. Renowned flute player Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia too performed on the occasion.
like previous years, the Maha Arati programme was held sharp at 6.30 pm.
A large number of devotees thronged the Arati site to have a glimpse of the rare ritual.
