Banamali Nayak, SI of Police, Kumbharpada police station at Puri was caught red-handed by Vigilance officers at the backside of the Gundicha Badi temporary police outpost near the Gundicha Temple while taking bribe of Rs 7,000. He was forwarded to court, from where he was remanded to judicial custody till July 26. Nayak had demanded bribe from Suryakanta Pradhan of village Khamara in Angul district at present residing in his father-in-law’s house at Matiapada at Puri for submitting a Kumbharpada PS case diary for bail and not to visit Pradhan’s house for arrest of the brother-in-law and father-in-law.
