Puri murder: Cong moves OHRC

Published on:

The Congress on Tuesday moved the Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) seeking a proper probe into the killing of Pattamundai’s Debasis Sethi in Puri and arrest of the culprits at the earliest.

In a memorandum, party leaders mentioned that Sethi had love relationship with Pattamundai police station Sub-Inspector Chandrika Mohapatra, a resident of Puri Bali Sahi, for the 11 years and this was known to their friends and police.

After a misunderstanding occurred between them, some of their common friends called Debasis to Puri on July 4, 2020. While Debasis reached there at 10.30 am, his dead body was recovered from the Bhargavi river mouth later around 5,30 pm. After the incident, Chandrika Mohapatra has absconded from Pattamundai.

“Chandrika and other accused have not been arrested yet. We demand your early intervention into the matter and justice be given to Debasis’s widow mother,” demanded MLA Suresh Kumar Routray, Bhagabati Sethi, Ucchabananda Mallick and Haladhar Sethi, among others.
