Vigilance officers on Monday caught Puri district’s Arkhakuda Marine police station ASI Khageswar Kar red-handed while taking bribe of Rs 11,000 from Bimala Pradhan of Baghamunda village under the Brahmagiri PS to release his boat, which was seized earlier.
The case relates to an incident of rioting between villagers of Sipakuda and Baghamunda wherein 27 boats were partly destroyed and set on fire. Kar’s residential house at Puri was being searched. He was arrested and would be forwarded to court, informed an official release.
