In a murder incident in 2006, a Fast Track Court of Puri awarded life imprisonment to one Sanjay Sahu of the town. The Sessions Judge Fast Track while pronouncing final judgement sentenced Sahu in connection with a gruesome murder of one Rupak Das of Chudanga Sahi in the town.
In the same murder incident, one Ranjay Sahu, the brother of the convict was also sentenced in 2008, who is presently serving lifeimprisonment.
After absconding in 2006, while Sanjay was arrested in 2014, town police however succeeded to nab Ranjay immediately on spot. As per sources, both the bothers had killed Das after misleading him from home to other location.
