Kaushal Kishore Dash, Mahant of the Torani Chhatra Mutt located close to the Shree Jagannath Temple, has urged District Magistrate Arabind Agarwal to take over the mutt endowment.
The mutt was recently forcibly occupied by some antisocial elements, who are threatening the Mahant to flee from Puri or else he would be eliminated.
The buildings of the mutt is in a dilapidated condition and unsafe to live in. The mutt used to serve the pilgrims with Abhada Torani, a healthy drink prepared from cooked Mahaprasad blended with many minerals and herbs, free of cost to pilgrims to beat the scorching heat in the summer.
The district Collector has assured the Mahant to act on his proposal soon.
