The Puri Bar Association has resolved to intensify its ongoing stir till the Government concedes its longstanding demands, said its president Premananda Mohanty on Saturday.
The lawyers are sitting on dharna since a week demanding establishment of a regular Vigilance Court and arrangements for camp courts of Consolidation and Endowment Commissioner and Member of Board of Revenue at the district headquarters.
The 20-member steering committee of the bar discussed the issue with Government officials and justices of the High Court in this regard.
The lawyers announced an indefinite strike since there was no concrete assurance from the authorities. As the lawyers have stopped work, the number of under-trial prisoners in the district jail has increased to an alarming level.
Residents and senior citizens have appealed to the Government and other concerned authorities to resolve the issue at the earliest.
