Members of Puri Bar Association, who had been staging agitation in protest against the assault on lawyer Biranchi Das by some Puri Sadar tehsil employees, on Saturday submitted a memorandum to the district Collector seeking strong action against two errant tehsil staffs.
“Some tehsil employees got united and attack Das when as he opposed one of them not to demand graft to issue a land status report. Das has got his right hand fractured in the attack,” said a lawyer.
Earlier, some lawyers allegedly attacked at least two revenue staffs.
Both lawyers and tehsil employees have lodged complaints against each other. Tehsil staffs also staged a dharana in the office campus on Saturday. A team of lawyers led by Bar president Pusker Chandra Mahapatra and secretary Sarada Samal met the Collector and submitted their memorandum.
