The Bar Association of Puri in a resolution on Monday declared a cease-work strike from Tuesday to Wednesday protesting the decision of the Government to shift the district Collectorate and its subordinate offices to the Sipasarubali area of the town.
In a general body meeting, the lawyers also took decisions to submit a memorandum to the Collector against the Government’s decision. They said that they oppose the decision because it would adversely affect the general public.
Notably, under the heritage city plan for Puri, the Government has decided to shift the Government offices from their existing locations to Sipasarubali.
