The main accused in the Puri lawyer and hotelier Chandan Behera murder case, Narendra alias litu Das, surrendered in the Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) Court here on Wednesday.
Police had earlier arrested seven persons, including Chandan’s wife Nibedita Behera, in connection with the case.
Sources said the Puri police have applied to the SDJM Court to take litu on a seven-day remand for interrogation. They now expect to unearth details pertaining to the case.
Till now, police investigations have revealed that Chandan’s wife Nibedita had plotted the murder with litu in a bid to take over her husband’s property. She had made litu her legal guardian through a power of attorney. The two had hired killers, according to reports.
Notably, two miscreants had killed Chandan in the Sai Kutir lodge premises under the Sea Beach Police limits on January 8. Chandan was entering the lodge premises on a scooter along with his friend Krushna Chandra Pradhan when the miscreant attacked.
