BJP activists on Monday staged dharnas in front of all police stations in Puri district demanding arrest of former Kendrapada SP Satish Gajbhiye.
Members of the Puri Bar Association also stopped functioning of the courts in protest against the police excesses committed on public, including lawyers, in Kendrapada when Gajbhiye was the SP. They demanded stringent punishment against the former SP.
BJP activists staged demonstrations in front of police stations across Jagatsinghpur district on Monday demanding arrest and suspension of Gajbhiye.
BJP district president Upendra Biswal led the agitation at the district headquarters here at the Jagatsinghpur police station. Similar protests were held at the Balikuda, Naugaon, Paradip and Raghunathpurpolice stations.
Besides, lawyers skipped court works on the day protesting brutal attack on public by Kendrapada police under Gajbhiye’s leadership.
District Bar Association president Dolagobinda Dash, senior lawyers RK Khatua, Bilash lenka, Gorachand Kunongo and R Mohanty led the stir.
