Puri investors in Kolkata with plaints against Saradha

More than 30 investors along with agents of nonbanking financial institution Saradha Group went to Kolkata on Wednesday to lodge complaints before the Shyamal Sen Commission, which is probing the chit fund scam, to get their money back.

As the company’s headquarters is based in Kolkata, the agents and investors would submit their documents to the commission to include them in the probe like other investors of West Bengal.

Notably, the commission of inquiry set up by the West Bengal Government to probe irregularities in the chit fund schemes of the Saradha Group and other such companies have started its work.

The five-member panel headed by Justice (retired) Shyamal Sen would submit its report within six months.

The investors of Puri alleged that the company swindled Rs 20 crore from the district promising them hefty returns. Recently, the Economic Offence Wing (EOW) of Odisha Crime Branch, which is probing the chit fund scam of the company in the State, recorded the statements of the investors.

Meanwhile, the Crime Branch has started a process to bring Saradha Group chief Sudipta Sen and director Devjani Chakraborty in remand to get further information regarding the scam in the State.

“We are going to Kolkata to appeal to the commission to give us justice.  We hope the West Bengal Government would also compensate us like the Bengali investors of Saradha Group,” said an agent of the company, Dibakar Biswal.
