Police on Wednesday arrested two persons on the charge of murdering a lodge owner in Puri town around 13 years ago. The accused Gopal Das of Baselisahi and Ranjit Pattanaik of Dhanakuti Sahi in Puri town were arrested under different sections of IPC and Arms Act.
As per reports, while Uttam Kumar Sarangi and his brother Ajaya Kumar Sarangi alias Hati were on their way to their lodge at 9:30 pm on August 30, 2007, six persons attacked Hati and opened three rounds of fire at him.
Following this, Hati sustained injuries on his right side of stomach. He died while undergoing treatment at the Hi-tech Hospital in Bhubaneswar.
After registering a case at the Puri Town police station, police launched an investigation into the matter. Out of the six accused.
