The Puri Town police arrested three miscreants on Tuesday night for allegedly killing another criminal, Sanjay Behera (27) alias Para, near the Gundicha Temple under the Kumbharapada police limits here in the morning.
The cops also seized a gun, a sword and a bike from the possession of the accused trio.
Three miscreants had opened fire at Behera, leaving him critically injured. Behera, against whom several criminal cases including murder and extortion were pending, died while undergoing treatment at the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack.
Though the reason behind the attack was yet to be ascertained, police suspected gang war as the cause of the incident.
The three accused were being interrogated and further investigation into the incident was on, police said.
