Vigilance police on Wednesday arrested Dr Arun Kumar Biswal, Surgery Specialist of the Puri District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for demanding and accepting bribe of `1,000 from one Balartam Palei for a tumor surgery.
Balaram Palei, a resident of Bedhasunder village under the Brahmagiri police station, had alleged that Dr Biswal had demanded him to pay `1,000 first so that he would fix a date for surgery to his tumor on his heel. Palei was admitted in the DHH on July 30.
Acting on his complaint, the Vigilance police laid a trap and caught Dr Biswal red-handed while receiving the bribe money from Palei.
