Puri cops unseal IMFA hangar inside airport

A team of the Puri police unsealed the IMFA hangar inside the Biju Patnaik International Airport here and released two helicopters of former Kendrapada MP Baijayant Panda on Monday.

The hangar was unsealed by a police team led by a SDPO and a Marine police station Inspector-in-Charge.

However, they detained one helicopter, which was alleged to have flown dangerously at very low altitude of the Chilika lake.

SDPO Sushil Kumar Mishra said a decision on the concerned helicopter would be taken after they get information from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

It might be mentioned that the Puri police have sought further information about the altitude at which the helicopter flew over the Chilika from the DGCA

Earlier, the DGCA after conducting an investigation had observed that there was no violation of rules and regulations and clarified that there was no deviation in the flight plan timings and actual timings of the helicopter flown by the former MP.

“Based on fact and evidence, it could not be established that the helicopter has flown dangerously below the assigned altitude or have landed at Chilika lake on September 15, 2018,” the DGCA letter read.
