Junior Clerk of Astaraga Tehsildar office Santosh Kumar Mallick was arrestedon Tuesday by Vigilance sleuths of Bhubaneswar Division for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs1,000 from complainant Damodar Biswal of Bankuri under Kakatpur police station for processing the file regarding damage of his house due to fire.
In this connection Bhubaneswar Vigilance had registered a case.
Mallick was caught in his office room at Astaranga while demanding and accepting the bribe money.
In another case on the day, Bakadabeda Circle Revenue Inspector Ganapati Mali under Jharigaon Tehsil in Nabarangpur was arrested by Vigilance sleuths of Koraput Vigilance Division for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs15, 000 from complainant labanya Bhotra of Tentuligaon village in the same district for issuing a sketch map of land. Koraput Vigilance had registered a case and caught Mali red-handed.
Similarly, on Monday, Kundakhai panchayat Sarpanch Akhila Biswal under Gaiselet block in Bargarh district was arrested by Sambalpur Vigilance Division sleuths for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs5,000 from complainant Khiti Kumbhar of Kundakhai village under Melchhamunda police station in Bargarh. He accepted the illegal gratification to put his signature on muster roll for release of payment to the labourers.
