The Puri Municipality, one of the oldest in the State, has tentatively prepared a budget of Rs 70 crore for the 2018-19 fiscal year and placed it in its council meeting.
The municipality has invited suggestions from public over this budget. The hefty budget amount has surprised many. Since this year is considered as an election year, the residents of the town were expecting a populist budget with a number of concessions for taxpayers.
This year’s budget has been increased by 50 per cent than the previous year. The budget would be redrafted after considering suggestions and sent to the State Government for approval.
