The Puri district administration on Thursday initiated cleaning of the Bankimuhan sea beach here after eminent sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik, who had staged a dharna at the beach site demanding renovation of this beach mouth, was hospitalised on the day.
Under the supervision of Puri ADM Bibhuti Bhusan Das, as many as 50 workers of the Puri Municipality were engaged in the cleaning drive, reports said.
Notably, the sand sculptor had staged a sit-in along with his students at the Bankimuhan sea beach demanding its cleaning as well as protesting pollution at the beach.
However, Pattnaik’s health deteriorated on Thursday and he was admitted to the Apollo Hospitals in Bhubaneswar.
