Hotel owners of Puri are in panic as the district administration on Thursday announced in public address system in the city to close down 20 hotels for running without obtaining the consent to operate permission from the State Pollution Control Board (SPCB).
The district information and Public Relations Department made loud announcements in front of these hotels on Thursday and asked the boarders to vacate the hotels by Friday evening. The hotels would be closed and sealed by the administration on the Saturday.
The SPCB had initiated proceedings against these hotels as they did not obtain the mandatory “consent to operate” authorization and were operating illegally. The SPCB had earlier issued notice to these hotels. It is learnt they did not respond. The SPCB asked the district Collector to close these hotels giving a 24-hour notice.
The hotels to be closed on Saturday are Pink House, Xenesis, Radhika Resorts, Surya Beach In, Dial Ring, Tara, Dream lodge, OOM, Grand Hotel, Nitaikunj, New Malancha, Madan Villa, Haraparbati, Chandrama, Surya Garden, Cashewrina House and Taxibari lodge. These hotels are located in Chakratirth road near the beach, Goudabada Sahi and Swargdwar area of the Puri coast line.
