Punjab gets laser, electronically-equipped world class shooting range at Mohali

Punjab on Thursday got ultramodern Shooting Indoor Range at Mohali, which has been upgraded and equipped with latest world class technologies at the cost of Rs. 1.60 crore.

Giving further fillip to upgradation of sports infrastructure in Punjab, the SAD-BJP led state government has spent Rs 5.60 crore on the upgradation of three shooting ranges, said the state Revenue and Public Relations Minister Bikram Singh Majithia while inaugurating Mohali Shooting Indoor Range.

Majithia, who is also Punjab Rifle Shooting Association president, said that this advanced shooting range has been equipped with laser target technique and other electronic gadgets.

“Punjab is the only state which has provided shooting range with these facilities of international standards and soon, Punjab will witness an International Shooting competition,” he said.

Majithia said that these shooting ranges were opened to everyone and any budding shooting star can register with these training hubs. Young talent from around the state would be chosen and free training along with subsidized equipments would be provided to them to make them shining stars of the country, he said.

Asked about fielding former scribe Jarnail Singh from lambi constituency, Majithia said that after failing to find candidates from Punjab, AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal has started importing candidates from other states, while questioning Jarnail’s contribution for the welfare of Delhi and Punjab.

Majithia also dared Kejriwal to fight election from any seat of his choice in Punjab rather than fielding scapegoats.
