The lok Shakti Abhiyan (lSA) demands that the Judicial Commission on Kandhamal killing should give details on the progress of its inquiry and the police force be taken to task in the three false encounter killings of last one year. The encounters took place at Pangalpadar of Kandhamal, Nisanguda of Kalahandi and Niyamgiri where total six persons were shot dead.
lok Shakti Abhiyan president Prafulla Samantara said that the brutal murder of the six tribals, including a baby and mother on July 8 night, is not an accident. It has become usual practice of anti- Naxal forces to kill innocent people. By such false encounters, the forces want to show the active presence of Maoists in the area so that a large amount of budget is ensured for anti-insurgency operations, said Samantara, demanding that the police officers involved in the encounters be arrested under IPC sections 302 and 307.
