Nearly 5,000 agitating investors and agents of several fraudulent multilevel marketing and chit fund companies supported by the All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) took out a massive rally and staged a demonstration on Thursday in front of the Collectroate here demanding action against the firms for duping them and safe return of their money.

They also submitted a three-point charter of demands to the Prime Minister through the District Collector. The demands included time-bound steps for refund of money of the depositors, thorough probe into the clandestine involvement of various Government agencies and corrupt politicians so as to bring the real culprits to book and strict law to prevent further reoccurrence of such incidents.

“The investors have been duped for their insatiable lust to mint quick money, while they don’t have easy access to the public sector banks and insurance companies, which have slashed their rate of interest rate in last several years,” observed AITUC Baleswar district president Jayant Das.

He demanded a thorough probe to expose the involvement of a few Ministers, MlAs and other senior Government officials in the money swindling.   Meanwhile, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch (CB) probing the Saradha realty scam on Thursday arrested two persons. They were identified as Basudev Samal and Bichitrananda Das.

While Samal was the branch manager of the company’s Baleswar branch from 2009 till shutting of the company, Das had provided all logistic supports to the company for its establishment and operation, informed CB DIG Rajesh Kumar, who was present here to take stock of the investigation process.

Kumar said the CB is making all-out efforts to bring Sudipta Sen and Devjani Mukhrjee of Saradha on remand to Odisha for more investigation in the cheating cases.
